Description of the Octopus Initiative via their website:
"Have you ever looked at a work of contemporary art in a museum and wanted to bring it home? Well, now's your chance. MCA Denver's Octopus Initiative is offering any resident of the Denver metro area the chance to borrow and live with a work of art made by a Denver-based artist for ten months. FOR FREE. You in?"
My role was to create a logo that could represent this project, making sure it fit into a contemporary gallery setting without doing an obvious Octopus drawing. The result came from hand drawing type, using the idea of outward pulsing oceanic waves, the topography of Denver, and a free flowing nature of art being able to float around, not confined within the walls of a gallery setting.
*Last image is Aten Design Group's integration of the logo into the website.
*Project completed at Scrap Labs.
